Brunswick
Box Company, Inc. (BBC) was founded and incorporated in 1952 by J.C. Lucy
in Lawrenceville, Virginia. From that date until the late 1960's
the company primarily manufactured wooden, pine boxes for the export of
tobacco. In 1958, the company began manufacturing wooden pallets
upon invitation by the United States Navy. In the late
1960's, we discontinued manufacturing tobacco boxes due to their replacement
by corrugated "knockdown" boxes and began concentrating our
efforts on constructing wooden pallets. Today, wooden pallets have become
BBC's specialty. The company also manufactures wooden boxes, crates, other
specialty lumber items, and colored mulches.
After J. C. Lucy's death in 1972, Emory H. Lucy and another brother purchased
the company from their father's estate. In February 1984, Emory Lucy became
majority share holder and is currently Chairman of the Board and Secretary
and Treasurer. Two of Emory Lucy's sons, Mark and Daven, work with the
company as plant managers.
